DOMAINE MONTBARBON

DOMAINE MONTBARBON

Thick Tears in the glass...
The southern wine estate Montbarbon was founded in 2008 by Martine and Jacky Montbarbon, former employees of Cave de Viré. Their focus has always been on highlighting the terroirs of Viré-Clessé. They transferred this passion and dedication to Jean-Jacques. He has been the manager of the Domaine since November 2022. His goal remains unchanged: to create rich wines with respect for the terroirs and the environment. They select a few plots for vinification in oak barrels and let them mature for 9 to 12 months on fine lees, resulting in full-bodied and slightly fatty wines that have very broad culinary uses. In 2022 he was honored as the best talent of the Mâconnais with the honorable GJPV Young Talents Trophy. Currently available: 2020 Viré Clessé, Selection, Domaine Montbarbon On request: La Petite Condemine & Quintaine La Chapelle St Trivier.
DOMAINE DE LA LUOLLE

DOMAINE DE LA LUOLLE

Biodynamic beauty
How many people dream of escaping the daily grind and following their true passion? A trip around the world, a B&B in Burgundy, becoming a winemaker. But then it usually remains a matter of dreams... Just like us, Olivier and Sandrine Dovergne decided to take such a step. The domaine is located in the village of Moroges near villages such as Givry, Mercurey, Montagny and Bouzeron in the Côte Chalonnaise. They do everything themselves, from grape selection to vinification and bottling to continuing to learn new techniques. They now produce a super drinkable Givry, Mercurey and a range of magical sparkling wines. Olivier & Sandrine Dovergne of Domaine de la Luolle decided halfway through their lives to make a career change and move to Burgundy to set up a biodynamic wine estate. Sandrine, a history teacher, and Olivier, a Biochemist/Engineer, left their work and went on a three-year trip around the world by sailboat with their two young children. During this trip they become convinced that making wine will be their next main activity. Desiring to work in one of the most beautiful wine regions in the world, they moved to Burgundy. Since they also wanted to work organically, they bought the domain ''La Luolle'' from Guy Chaumont with its healthy and well-maintained BIO vineyards for 50 years. This is the true pinnacle of organic farming and you can taste it in these clean wines! 💚 No mega-preservative Premier Crus that need to be kept first, but 'Vins de grand plaisir' with seductively juicy fruit, charm and immediate drinking pleasure combined with the intrinsic elegance and refinement of the Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and the fresher Aligoté grape. They make their presence felt in both still and sparkling form! Their Crémants are, in our opinion, Burgundy's best kept secret. Let's keep it that way. 🤫
DOMAINE VUILLEMEZ

DOMAINE VUILLEMEZ

Swiss precision with Burgundian allure
A family of Swiss watchmakers and lovers of Burgundy. Vuillemez is a new domain located next to a 1000 year old church in the village of Chardonnay. Where the origin of the grape of the same name lies. Impressive wines that stand out for their precision and refinement, yet have that mouth-filling, filmy and creamy character of a good white Burgundy. These subtle flavors arise, among other things, from the upbringing in both concrete eggs and oak barrels.
DOMAINE NORMAND

DOMAINE NORMAND

Normandy muscle with southern flair
Alain Normand is from the Loire Valley, but his ancestral home is Normandy, hence his name. That makes him a Northman, a Viking🧔and true to form he is (by French standards) a tall, red-haired man. He met Sylvaine, a Burgundian, at the wine school in Beaune. They started their career by taking over an abandoned vineyard in La Roche-Vineuse with a métayage contract, a common agricultural practice in France in which the landlord is paid in wine. 💰 Alain Normand now farms 35 hectares in, among others, La Roche-Vineuse, an old village nestled on the steep flank of the enormous limestone spur that gives the name to Vineuse. This village sits astride the small pass that cuts through the Mâcon ridges and leads to Cluny, the seat of power of the Benedictine order of monks in their medieval heyday. One of their secret weapons is the Burgundy Pinot Noir cuvee Esus, which convinces even non-Pinot Noir lovers with its seductive vanilla notes and warmth.
DOMAINE DE NAISSE

DOMAINE DE NAISSE

Where the sun always shines
Domaine de Naisse, Brenot-Beranger is located in a beautiful spot in the south of Burgundy. The winery is located in the town of Laizé, the southernmost point of the Mâconnais where the sun always feels like it is shining. This is currently a permanent fixture for our Friday afternoon drinks accompanied by homemade hummus that complement each other perfectly. The wines from Domaine de Naisse are characterized as extra rich because of the clay and chalky soil type and the many hours of sun that they can enjoy. ☀️ Viré-Clessé is already known for it, but their Mâcon-Villages ''Happy Naise'' also unmistakably has this rich terroir. In 2020, winemaker Elodie was honored as the best talent of the Mâconnais with the honorable GJPV Young Talents Trophy. Exactly the talent we are looking for!
DOMAINE HOUBLIN-VERNIN

DOMAINE HOUBLIN-VERNIN

The secret backyard of the Parisiennes
Just a 2-hour drive from Paris you will find Domaine Houblin-Vernin in Coulange la Vineuse in the Yonne south of Auxerre. Jean-Luc Houblin started his wine journey with just one and a half hectares of vines in Migé. Now, more than twenty-five years later, the vineyard area in Migé has been expanded by more than 2000%. From its beginnings in 1988 with minimal vine presence, Migé now has 35 hectares, of which five hectares still nurture young vines not suitable for wine production. In 2022, Valentin Vernin took over from Jean-Luc Houblin, who retired. This gave the domain its current name Domaine Houblin-Vernin. Since 2019, it has also been in possession of the HVE certification. In addition, Valentin has received the Young Talents Trophy for the best talent under the age of 40 who has been working in Burgundy for their department for less than 5 years. This is exactly the talent we are looking for. Giftedness without having too high a hat.
DOMAINE DENIS CARRÉ

DOMAINE DENIS CARRÉ

Sous la Velle
We also like to push the boundaries within the established order of the Côte d'Or. For connoisseurs of Meursault wines it should ring a bell... The vineyard "Sous la Velle" is 100% Meursault!... but that is not stated on the label. How is that possible? Well, if you look at the map, you will see that there are some other vineyards between "Sous la Velle" and the National D974... They are also called "Sous la Velle", but fall just outside the Meursault appellation. The same grapes, the same soil, but for half the price. Harvested from more than 40 year old vines on the limestone-rich Lieu-dit Sous la Velle in the lower part of Meursault, this is a Bourgogne Blanc with both volume and structure.
VINCENT BACHELET

VINCENT BACHELET

Route des Grands Crus, Chassagne-Montrachet
Vincent makes generous wines with lots of vanilla and lots of flavor. The Bachelet family originally comes from the Maranges region. Vincent settled in 2008 in a beautiful building that runs along the prestigious route of great wines in Chassagne Montrachet. Really worth a visit! His Chardonnays are rich, complex and expressive, with a perfect harmony between fruitiness, minerality and creamy length. Each sip reveals layers of flavor and a subtle nuance that can only be achieved by the hand of this master winemaker. But his red wines also deserve praise, with their silky texture, lively fruitiness and elegant structure. Vincent knows better than anyone how to get the best out of the Pinot Noir grape, resulting in wines that are both seductive and complex.
AURORE BACHELET

AURORE BACHELET

Micro-vigneronne
Aurore Bachelet is a young winemaker and the daughter of the famous winemaker Vincent Bachelet from Chassagne. After completing her business administration studies and gaining experience during various internships abroad, Aurore decided to return to her Burgundian roots. She trained in winemaking and oenology and worked alongside her father Vincent for five years. During that time, she also focused on developing her own vineyard and feminine signature in villages such as Maranges, Meursault, Chassagne, Saint-Aubin and Santenay. For the time being we can call her a Micro Vigneronne given the small scale of production. Very exclusive! Knowing Burgundy, its wines could become unaffordable within a few years! Take advantage of it now!!
DOMAINE THEVENARD

DOMAINE THEVENARD

Futuristic Chardonnay
Nestled in the village of Uzichy just below the Tournus exit lies Domaine Thevenard. On a 250m high plateau of clay-limestone there are 40-60 year old vines from which they produce very pure Chardonnays. In 2021, the newest generation decides to make a new start by withdrawing 12 hectares (of the total 22 hectares) from the Chardonnay cooperative. Using State of the Art equipment and innovation, they make trendy, fresh New-Age style Chardonnays for the modern Burgundy connoisseur💙

Extraordinary length!
Champagne Pierre MALINGRE is found in the small village of Prouilly, in the heart of the Massif de St Thierry. Their vineyard extends over 9 hectares on approximately 30 plots in the villages of Prouilly, Trigny, Gueux and Janvry. The oldest were planted in 1973. They grow the 3 Champagne grape varieties: Chardonnay, Meunier and Pinot Noir. The vines are grown respecting traditions, terroir and the environment. They achieved certification for sustainable viticulture in Champagne in 2023. They recognize the need to take action and protect their vineyard and heritage. LOUISON RIVIÈRE

LOUISON RIVIÈRE

Behind Champagne Franck Rivière lies a family of artists. Franck, the father, is a talented pianist, while Louison, the daughter, has her own screen printing studio in Cramant. With a switch to organic viticulture, Champagne Franck Rivière embraces sustainability. All treatments in the vineyards are certified according to the HVE standard (High Environmental Value).
HENRI LATOUR

HENRI LATOUR

No-nonsense
We struck gold with François and Sylvan Latour’s Vieilles Vignes Auxey-Duresses. Grown on 50- to 70-year-old vines in a village southwest and uphill from Volnay. It's a savvy Burgundy choice that Pinot Noir enthusiasts of all kinds should seize.
