A 2018 Millésime Champagne of the highest caliber! The nose is refined yet generous, with fine notes of honey-sweet pralines.
The mouthfeel is fresh, dry, and minty, with brioche notes and buttery flavors that have developed with elegance. It is a refined and fruity Champagne with a lot of richness. The dominant Chardonnay grape provides extraordinary length.
After inheriting the parcels from their ancestors, Pierre and Simone Malingre, newly married in 1950, moved to our current Champagne house. They tried to rebuild the vineyard after the devastation of World War II. When the family press was destroyed, they joined the Trigny-Prouilly cooperative in 1957 to sell their products.
Since the 1970s, their son Claude and his wife Nicole, originally from Trigny, have contributed to the expansion and modernization of the vineyard. The first bottles of Champagne were sold in 1972 under our grandfather's name "Champagne Pierre MALINGRE"! Today, they have passed their expertise on to their daughter Jane and her husband Frederic.
Their parcels are cultivated on south/southeast-facing hills, on sandy and clay-limestone soils. Manual labor keeps them busy all year round in the vineyards! The grapes are hand-picked to ensure that only the best are selected and quickly transported to the press to guarantee optimal quality.
In Old French, Prouilly was called 'Provinicicelliacus', meaning 'Close to the small vine'.
