QTN Quick taste notes 12-2022:
Excellent Pet Nat experience. Pet-nat is a playful abbreviation for 'petillant natural'. In Dutch this means 'naturally sparkling'. This drink is actually the naturist among the sparkling wines. To get a bubble in this wine, the most natural way of fermentation is used: 'méthode ancestrale'. 50% Chardonnay 50% Gamay and a very interesting light orange color and fruit palate. Nose is more familiar green apple Crémant style and some warm spicy provence vibes. Taste, no denying of ripe peach but kept really dry. I'm so glad it has some fresh kick to it because pet nats do tend to be a bit weak sometimes. This however does deliver some good acidity on the attack and finish. Fun, clean, refreshing, good price, will drink again, and I just did. Also quite rare. Only few hundred bottle produced. If you are ever down south in the village of Leynes do pay them a visit. Very kind, hardworking, young couple, living the dream at the most ridiculous beautiful spot up on the hills overlooking both Bourgogne as Beaujolais. The drive upwards to their Domaine always gives me goosebumps.
