Love at first...aroma. A deep smoky scent from the French oak barrels. The wine offers juicy flavors of yellow apples, pomelo, citrus, pineapple, peach, butter, nuts, and a rich mineral undertone. Oily and fat Chardonnay texture, elevated by southern ripe fruit and a hint of pure vanilla. Very drinkable even at this early stage but not without aging potential.
This cuvée is fuller in flavor than the also available Madame Noly cuvée, which has a bit more freshness and a friendlier flavor profile. Although the price difference is small, the Les Perriers cuvée is significantly more terroir-driven and provides more value for money. On the other hand, there is sometimes the idea that less is more, which characterizes the Madame Noly cuvée.
Serious wine requires serious food pairing. Smoked dishes align beautifully with the nose, and the fatty structure pairs well with fatty fish types. Serve this wine in large Bourgogne glasses at a temperature of around 14 degrees.
The Mâconnais is primarily known for its white wines, which are predominantly made from the Chardonnay grape. The region has numerous appellations, including Mâcon-Villages, Viré-Clessé, Pouilly-Fuissé, and Saint-Véran, which are the most prominent. These wines are fresh, fruity, and often characterized by a fine minerality that is reminiscent of the top wines from northern Bourgogne, but with a softer and more approachable style. The wines from the Mâconnais often have a distinct terroir that subtly varies by village, giving each bottle its own character.
At Burgundy or Nowhere, you will find an extensive selection of Mâconnais wines, from well-known names to hidden gems. We are particularly enthusiastic about the wines from Domaine de la Chapelle, whose Saint-Véran is known for its impressive depth and complexity at a reasonable price. The Pouilly-Fuissé AX-B from the same domaine is also an excellent choice for those looking for a high-quality Mâconnais experience without the high price of the Côte d'Or. Our goal is to offer wines where the price reflects what is in the bottle, not just the name on the label.
