A round, fresh Chardonnay with a light buttery touch. A true treasure from the cellar of Lequin-Colin, where the focus is on the contents of the bottle, not on the label. Ripe green fruit. Yellow apples, peach, stone fruit, and apricot. Ripe citrus notes of baked lemon, hints of lime. Rich butter and soft butterscotch tones. Well-integrated notes of toast and hints of vanilla. Medium+ concentration and mild acidity. All vineyards have been farmed organically since 2009 and have been Ecocert-certified since 2012.
This wine is the only one in the Lequin-Colin collection that is not fully barrel-fermented. It is fermented 50% in a tank and 50% in wooden barrels, with 10% of these barrels being new and made from French oak by Chassin and Rousseau. The grapes come from plots in Santenay: "Lavau" near the village, and "Corpeau" below the village of Puligny-Montrachet. The grapes from the "Corpeau" plot are sourced from François's organic friends, while François himself manages the viticulture, harvest, pressing, and winemaking. The result is a fresh, soft, citrusy Chardonnay without pretensions. Full-bodied with a pleasant richness and length, and in the finish, the mineral terroir even shines through.
In short, for someone who loves a full-bodied wine at an affordable price.
Perfect for aperitifs, but also great with summer salads, fried oysters, and rich fish dishes. In short, very versatile! Ideal as an aperitif or with dishes like fish and poultry, as well as both green and white asparagus! After the meal, it pairs wonderfully with cheese.
The Lequin family has been making wine since 1673, with the former Domaine Lequin-Roussot being split in 1992 between brothers René and Louis. René married a Colin from Chassagne-Montrachet, and their son François is now at the helm. Their 9 hectares are mostly spread across Santenay.
The Côte de Beaune, located in the southern part of the famous Côte d'Or, is one of the most prestigious wine regions in Burgundy. Known for its refined Chardonnay and elegant Pinot Noir, the Côte de Beaune offers an outstanding combination of quality and diversity in both white and red wines. Despite the fame of surrounding villages such as Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault, the region continues to reward us with new and relatively affordable talent for wine lovers looking for high-quality wines with a better price-to-quality ratio.
The Côte de Beaune is world-famous for its sublime Chardonnay wines, especially from the appellations of Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Meursault. These wines are known for their rich, full flavors with notes of citrus, honey, and butter, supported by a distinctive minerality. The Pinot Noir wines from villages such as Beaune, Pommard, and Volnay are elegant with fine tannins, red berries, and earthy tones, giving each bottle its own unique character. These wines are often refined and develop beautifully with time.
The wines from the Côte de Beaune are versatile and pair excellently with refined dishes. The fresh and mineral Chardonnay wines pair beautifully with seafood, fish dishes like grilled salmon, and creamy sauces. They are also a perfect match with soft cheeses like Brie, Camembert, and Comté. The Pinot Noir wines from the region are ideal with poultry, veal ribeye, and refined meat dishes such as duck or coq au vin. Dishes with earthy flavors, such as mushroom risotto or roasted vegetables, also make the perfect pairing with these wines.
