A mini Meursault but from the south of Burgundy. Barrel-aged Chardonnay. Powerful, rich, southern, with creamy curves and underlying mineral freshness. Thirst-quenching fresh pineapple, red and green apples, lemon peel, orange, salt, butter, mint, nuts, brioche, cardamom, vanilla, and wax. A sense of luxury without feeling heavy, just like a Meursault. Enjoy this wine in a large glass, and don't serve it too cold. This way, the aromas of cardamom, apple pie, and brioche come through beautifully. This wine is much more serious than its peers due to its strong backbone. You'll find this style more often in the north of Burgundy for 30 euros or more. That’s why this wine is truly a "find"!
Incontournable, unmissable, unavoidable, essential, indispensable. In short, this wine is a must-have for any Burgundy lover's wine collection.
Hand-picked from 70-year-old vines (Vieilles Vignes) and aged for about 12 months in a mix of old (6 years old) and new (15%) French oak for body and complexity. Since the 2019 vintage, this wine is no longer malolactically fermented, giving it a purer, cleaner feel. No more lactic notes of yogurt; the roundness of this wine is achieved through subtle oak use and ripe fruit from the southern Mâconnais region. This wine is in its final year of organic conversion before officially carrying the BIO label on the bottle.
Serve with rich fish dishes, sushi, or lobster. However, it also works wonderfully in a refined aperitif setting. In short, it's very versatile!
The Mâconnais is best known for its white wines, primarily made from the Chardonnay grape. The region has numerous appellations, with Mâcon-Villages, Viré-Clessé, Pouilly-Fuissé, and Saint-Véran being the most prominent. These wines are fresh, fruity, and often characterized by a fine minerality reminiscent of top wines from northern Burgundy, but with a softer, more approachable style. Wines from the Mâconnais often express a distinct terroir, varying subtly from village to village, giving each bottle a unique character.
At Burgundy or Nowhere, you'll find an extensive selection of Mâconnais wines, from well-known names to hidden gems. We are particularly excited about the wines from Domaine de la Chapelle, whose Saint-Véran is known for its impressive depth and complexity at a reasonable price. Also, the Pouilly-Fuissé AX-B from the same domaine is an excellent choice for those seeking a high-quality Mâconnais experience without the high price tag of the Côte d'Or. Our goal is to offer wines where the price reflects what's inside the bottle, not just the name on the label.
