2018 this vintage has gotten leaner over time. Mâconnais tropical fattiness turned lean and chiseled. Perfect pairing with the oysters we had. More an apéro or lunch kinda wine but a good one at that. No oak. 13,5% abv. Note to self...keep these kinda wines a little longer.
Unoaked Chardonnay. The last bottles of 2018 from the great Burgundian trilogy of 2017, 2018, 2019. Drier than the current 2020 vintage. This Normand Mâcon La Roche Vineuse Blanc is a wonderfully pure wine from southern Burgundy. You smell aromas of ripe yellow and green fruits such as pear and apple and other exotic fruits. The wonderfully fresh mouthfeel of the wine is striking. The wine is smooth and fresh, matured in steel, but still a little salty. Addictively delicious. Combine it with an aperitif, or serve with herring or oysters.
