QTN 05-2023
2020, comfy wine! A lovely fesh and silky dark red Burg balancing between indulgence and liveliness, a fruity Pinot and earthy Gamay blend with 10 months worth of vanilla from the french oak, typical of the Coteaux Bourguignons appellation offering a delicate and refined bouquet along beautiful fresh jammy cherries and dark red fruit on the palate. Added age turns up the complexity a notch although it's a drink-now kinda wine. Mix of 66% Pinot Noir and 33% Gamay but blind you wouldn't guess the added Gamay. Only when you mention the Gamay-part you could disect the mild earthy stalky notes and some mild pepper. Serve with pizza, lasagna or charcuterie, beef tartare.
This cuvée of Côteaux Bourguignons "Le Cloux de la Roche" comes from vines of the seventies on a clay-limestone soil. These vines have been worked on with organic farming since 2011 and the estate pays particular attention to the earth and sky and the fruit without using synthetic chemicals. The grapes are harvested manually in small crates. For vinification, a 2-week maceration without the addition of sulfur is carried out with the use of indigenous yeasts for fermentation. The wine is then aged for 10 months in French oak barrels with just under 10% new barrels.
